NEWSLETTERJohn Sheldon - Editor The Newsletter (located in this packet) is printed each month and sent to all members. It contains a wealth of information about the “comings and goings” of our Center. Most of the questions you might have about South Salem Seniors can be answered here. You also will note that ads can be placed in this Newsletter. There are some restrictions (in that we are a non profit organization) and the prices are very reasonable. These ads help to defray the cost of publication and mailings. The Office Staff will be able to assist you in placing of an ad. Inside the last page of the Newsletter you will always find a calendar showing the activities that are scheduled for any particular day of that month. As you might imagine, the publication of this newsletter involves a great deal of work and many volunteer workers assist in the proof-reading, printing, folding, mailing of this publication. For that reason, articles to be published must be in the hands of the Editor by the 10th of the preceding month to meet deadlines.

Computer Classes We have a beautiful Computer Lab and we offer classes on a regular basis for a small fee. The Sign Up sheets for the classes are located in the Library area next to the windows. Classes consist of:
Another feature of our Computer Lab is that we have Wi-Fi available in the building. And, if you would like to have an e-mail account through our lab, by paying a small monthly lab fee, that can be arranged. On the door of the Lab you will find a listing of when the Lab will be manned with a knowledgeable individual who can assist you with any questions or problems you may have.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEWSPAPER RECYCLING In all of Salem I’m sure you have noticed the yellow (sometimes white) boxes in parking lots that say South Salem Seniors. These are collection boxes for our Newspaper Recycling program. Each day (yes, EACH day) at least two of our crew of men pick up all the papers that have been placed there and take them to the Recycling Company. We have two cargo vans that are used for this purpose. We collect between two to three tons of paper each day. Newspapers are the most frequently the bulk of the items in the Recycling Boxes but we also recycle junk mail, magazines and phone books. This program is one of our largest income producing activities. Our annual receipts from this program top $25,000. At least twenty of our members are involved in this ongoing activity on a daily basis and another 20 are substitute drivers and helpers in this great endeavor. This is an area that we are always looking for help.
